Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We had a fantastic experience here. Anytime we go somewhere and the employees are good to our son, they are already in good terms with us. Not only were they good to our baby, but the service was excellent and the food was scrumptious. Tey out this restaurant the next time you are in Ubud Bali!!"
"Favorite sushi place in Ubud. I always get the veggie roll. It’s so crunchy and fresh. Amazing creative mocktails. Really pleasant happy staff. I go here at least 1x per week. Great prices! I really enjoy being here. Only issue is it’s on a busy road so it’s a bit loud. So I sit in the back on the cushions."
"We had a really good dinner at Kyoka, we ordered different sushi rolls and they were super fresh and tasty, and the gyoza were too and the drinks were EXCELLENT. The only downside was the ramen, we found it a bit bland. Overall we like the place and I’d recommend."
"Apart from the amount of flies that bothered us and when we asked for candles it took a bit THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. The ponzu sashimi was soooo good and the tuna poke bowl was also sooo filling. The cocktails with the pineapple palm sugar & gin floral one was super duper duper good"
"Chicken chashu ramen topped with vegetables, meat rolls, seaweed, half-boiled eggs, and fish cakes in a broth made by boiling chicken thoroughly, a cappuccino with a combination of espresso with a soft cinnamon flavor and soft milk foam, and when I took a bite of the chicken chashu ramen noodles, I was surprised at how soft the noodles were that they were well-cooked, and the broth wasn't as salty as I thought it would be, but rather had a light flavor. Because it was lightly salty, the taste and aroma of the clear broth were even more noticeable. The price might be a bit more expensive than other restaurants, but I still recommend the taste."
"After days of eating Balinese food, we were seriously craving Japanese, and Kyoka absolutely delivered. The food was fresh, authentic, and full of flavour. Exactly what we needed. The sushi was beautifully prepared, the portions were generous, and everything tasted clean and well balanced. You can tell they focus on quality ingredients. Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole place had a relaxed vibe that made it easy to enjoy the meal. If you're in Ubud and need a break from local cuisine, this spot is a great choice. Highly recommend."
"Great Sushi in Ubud, Not Michelin star, but reminds you of that. The service is amazing, with a mix of smiles. Great evening for a date night."
"Had an amazing meal at Kyoka Japanese Restaurant! I ordered the gyoza and the Tonkotsu ramen — and both were absolutely spot on. The gyoza were perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside, and paired beautifully with the dipping sauce. The Tonkotsu ramen was the highlight — rich, creamy broth with deep flavor, perfectly cooked noodles, and generous toppings. You can really taste the authenticity and care in the preparation. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was friendly and efficient. If you’re in Ubud and craving proper Japanese comfort food, this place is a must-visit. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in Bali!"
